Jess, a fat white femme with half blue and half teal hair looks directly into the camera. She has blue eyes, a septum piercing, and magenta lipstick.

My name is Jess. Let’s build a world worth living in.

I’m currently available for consulting engagements, speaking, training, death work, and peer support.

After getting a degree in educational leadership, I committed my career to creating access to intersectional, justice-based healing. Most of my work has focused on suicide, crisis, and other experiences with madness.

I have combined my living experience with the things that get called psychosis and suicide, expertise in teaching, training, crisis and suicide support, and my passion for peer support, critical suicidology, and liberation to find creative community solutions.

Training, Speaking, Writing, and Podcasting

I love to share my expertise as a trainer, speaker, writer, and podcaster. I am proud to be an Intentional Peer Support and Alternatives to Suicide Trainer, and to have worked with many organizations to develop their trainings. My work has been featured in USA Today Mad in America, Mental Illness Research, Education and Clinical Centers, Postvention in Action: The International Handbook of Suicide Bereavement, Crisis, Death Studies, and The Suicide Prevention Resource Center. I also collaborate on a podcast called Suicide ‘n’ Stuff with Dese’Rae Stage from Live Through This. I am an experienced keynote and event speaker. I am most interested in talking/thinking/collaborating about epistemology, capitalism, and ethics in the context of suicidology, peer support, crisis, and madness.

Consulting

I have worked with organizations ranging from state government agencies to crisis centers and student organizations. I am interested in collaborations that create new pathways to healing that communities want. Let’s explore what we can create together!

Peer Support and Death Work

I am passionate about supporting people through experiences with madness, death, and dying. I am most experienced in working with people following suicide attempts and deaths. I offer death work and peer support for individuals and groups on a limited basis, and run an Alternatives to Suicide support group for individuals who work in peer support or the mental health field.
